The English syllabus for bilingual schools is intended to develop the learner’s communicative competence as well as the knowledge, skills, abilities, values, and competences of a 21st century citizen. This requires the implementation of innovative communicative language teaching methodologies. These methodologies are supported by principles established in the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR), the Action-Oriented Approach, and the Educating for a New Citizenship Framework.
SCOPE AND SEQUENCE
It is a document, for bilingual schools and bilingual sections, that distributes the assessment strategies, goals, function, grammar structures & sentence frames, vocabulary, phonology and social language to be taught throughout each period.
That is, teachers will use the information in the scope and sequence to complete the different components in the planning template. Then teachers will design the corresponding mediation strategies.
There is a scope & sequence document for every level.
These guidelines intend to provide English teachers with important information on how to write indicators of learning and create assessment instruments. All the indicators and instruments will help teachers to measure the achievements of the goals set in the Literature English curriculum.
Teachers will find a brief explanation on how to write indicators of learning, points to keep in mind when working with Literature in the English language program, and a recommended list of suggested performance indicators for the pedagogical mediation to teach Literature.
These guidelines intend to provide English teachers with important information on how to write indicators of learning and create assessment instruments. It includes sample rubrics and performance scales for summative and formative assessment in oral and written comprehension and oral and written production. All the indicators and instruments will help teachers to measure the achievements of the goals set in the new English curriculum.
